The Institute will take place at the University of Hawaii Center for Korean Studies Auditorium, Room 102.

Lodging
OCEAN RESORT HOTEL WAIKIKI
The Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki is approximately 3 miles from the University of Hawai‘i and located 1 block from Waikiki Beach. The 108-acre Kapiolani Park, Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, Diamond Head, shopping, dining, and great entertainment are all within walking distance of the hotel.
Rooms are in two separate towers. All rooms have furnished balconies and include mini-refrigerators, air conditioning, cable TV, pay movies, and more. The hotel features two pools, sundeck, gift shop, restaurant, and full bar on property. Internet access is available for a fee. (NOTE: We will be arranging for complimentary shuttle service between the Ocean Resort Hotel and the UH campus during the summer institute).
Special Ocean View room rates are $89 per night, plus applicable taxes.

THE LOTUS AT DIAMOND HEAD
The Lotus at Diamond Head is also approximately 3 miles from the University of Hawai‘i and located right near the foot of majestic Diamond Head within Kapiolani Park. This luxurious boutique hotel offers a fusion of Asian inspired décor and warm Hawaiian hospitality and is just steps away from the beach and the Waikiki Aquarium. A short walk along the seashore and guests can enter the hustle and bustle (shopping, dining, and entertainment) of Waikiki and return back to their relaxing secluded Lotus rooms later.
Rooms come furnished with feather duvet and pillows, in-room safe, cable TV, CD/DVD players, iPod clock/radio docking station, mini refrigerator, private balcony, desk, and more. The hotel features a variety of services (laundry, valet, dry cleaning, complimentary coffee, etc.). High-speed internet access is available for a fee. (NOTE: We will be arranging for complimentary shuttle service between The Lotus and the UH campus during the summer institute).

ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
For the budget traveler, the East-West Center Residence Halls, located near the UH Center for Korean Studies, provide affordable accommodations. Each residence hall has a reception desk to provide check-in and check-out services. The desks also take messages, provide change for laundry and vending machines, issue spare keys, and provide general information. Air conditioning is NOT available in any of the East-West Center residence halls.

Lincoln Hall is a four-story building serviced by one elevator. All studios ($52/night) have cable TV, telephone service, internet access, and private bathroom/toilet facilities.

Hale Manoa is a 13-story dormitory serviced by two elevators. Double dorm rooms (2 single beds) are $37 per night. Linen and bedding are provided; however, guests must either bring towels or purchase a towel packet (bath towel, wash cloth, and small bar of soap) at the Front Desk. All rooms have telephone service, internet access, and shared bathroom facilities. Limited kitchen facilities and coin-operated laundry machines are located on each floor.

Hale Kuahine is a four-story dormitory with no elevator. Physical arrangements and rates are similar to Hale Manoa.

Ground Transportation - Taxi / Limo Services
To and From the Airport
Honolulu International Airport
The island of O'ahu is serviced by the Honolulu International Airport (HNL). Airlines that fly to Hawai'i include American, United, Continental, Delta, Hawaiian Airlines, and a wide variety of airlines from abroad. The airport is about a 20-minute drive (non-rush hour traffic time) from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa or Waikiki.

For the convenience of our summer institute participants staying at the Ocean Resort Waikiki (ORW) and The Lotus at Diamond Head (LDH) Hotels, we will be providing shuttle service to and from the Center for Korean Studies (CKS) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa as follows:

Look for the Superstar Motorcoach (chartered by Royal Star Hawaii). Please be waiting near the street in front of the building at least 5 minutes before pick-up time to ensure that you don't miss the bus. These shuttle routes are one-way and fixed. If you desire to go to the Center for Korean Studies or your hotel at a time other than indicated above, you will be on your own for transportation.

There is taxi service available outside the baggage claim area at the airport. An average fare from the airport to Waikiki or the University of Hawai'i at Manoa campus is between $25-35. You can also call:

TheBus

O'ahu's bus system, logically dubbed "TheBus," offers island-wide service. The cost for a one-way fare is $2.25 for adults and $1 for elementary and high school students; exact change is appreciated. People carrying large suitcases or baggage are not allowed on TheBus. Riders are allowed to transfer to any connecting line as long as it is going in the same general direction. Request a transfer slip from the bus driver when you board the bus.
A $25 Oahu Discovery Passport (good for 4 consecutive days) can be bought from ABC Stores in Waikiki and the Ala Moana Shopping Center and from the Bus Pass Office.
