Buddhism and Law: An Introduction

Buddhism and Law: An Introduction

Edited by Rebecca Redwood French and Mark A. Nathan

As the first comprehensive study of Buddhism and law in Asia, this volume challenges the concept of Buddhism as an apolitical religion without implications for law. The authors reveal that in some cases, Buddhism provided a legal ideology, while in other cases it added a new layer of complexity to preexisting legal systems.
