Aparna is a PhD student in the Art History department at UCLA, specializing in Modern and Contemporary South Asian art and architecture. She received her B.A. in Art History and International Relations from Brown University in 2010, where she completed an undergraduate honors thesis on British colonial representations of Indian dancing girls. In June 2012, she was awarded her M.A. in Art History from UCLA for her thesis entitled, ‘Lines of Inquiry: Partition, Historiography and the Art of Zarina Hashmi.’
Currently, her research interests span Partition and South Asian visual culture, museums in South Asia, as well as Indian cinema.
